+ The Meraki Tarot is created from my passion for Tarot since I discovered it, at about 15 years old. Since I was young, I have been drawn to the magical, mystical and spiritual world around us, and throughout my life, has acted as a guiding force within me. Tarot was one divination tool that was a natural instinct to learn, and my first deck was Thoth by Aleister Crowley, which I still have and use today! I am continually drawn to the artistic expression and invoking imagery of tarot decks from the past and present, and I now have the joy and honor to create and share a uniquely designed Tarot deck with you! The Meraki card is the additional 22nd card in the Major Arcana and signifies doing something with soul, creativity and love. It represents the essence of who you are and the passion in your work. The beautiful white dove, symbolizing love, peace, and the messenger of light and shadow, is larger than life travelling effortlessly, free from worry and restraints. As the Meraki comes to us in our readings, it is a sign that we are ready to spread our wings, let our personal song travel far and wide, and explore our true passions, hopes and dreams! The back of the card is meant to be as inspiring and thoughtful as every card in the deck. The floral design draws in the inspirations of nature and all our senses while the central moon in its many phases takes us through the ebb and flow of life’s journey. The back of the cards are a visual resting space to meditate on and find focus while you are working with your tarot deck. Welcome to The Meraki Tarot, I am so excited and honored to bring this deck to all of you! It has already been such an incredible journey with the support of the Tarot community, friends, family, and the generous support of those that help me get the word out! All of you are with me on this journey to see The Meraki Tarot come to life and spread some everlasting magic throughout our communities and beyond. The Meraki Tarot is inspired by the magic of nature and animals, and is a whimsical look at the world around us. It is intended to speak to the passion we all have shining within us as the best version of ourselves. The messages of the Tarot are simply a guide, that allow us to become aware of what was previously unknown, so we may move forward in the most successful way. This deck has been illustrated by hand in a digital environment, utilizing the various artistic techniques within today’s software and hardware. When starting working on this project, it was important that this deck could be picked up and used by everyone of all ages. I worked to design each image to not only represent the foundation of that card’s intrinsic meanings, but to also draw us into the graphic messages the cards have to offer. The colors are balanced and full of life, creating a mood, a sense of space, and an intuitive journey. Each card laid out next to another in any standard or personal configuration tells a beautiful and vibrant story that will draw in imagination and pull out expanded thoughts and ways of approaching all life situations. I created these simple and softly scalloped borders as a way to step the reader into the illustrations and allow your eye to rest in that space as you gather your thoughts and feelings. I hope you love this deck as much as I have loved creating each card. I have also infused my love of working with crystals into the major arcana. Each major will have its own crystal association, seen at the bottom left corner of each card, allowing for a deeper dive into the healing and energy characteristics of each archetype. Two of the five informational cards in this deck will have keywords that correspond to each major arcana crystal for reference. Though I started my tarot journey using the Thoth methodology, I love the layout and rhythm of the Ryder Waite Smith decks. I have based The Meraki Tarot on the RWS format and added The Meraki card to the major arcana along with five informational cards for reference. My hope is that The Meraki Tarot becomes a deck that brings love, light and empowerment to you and your life’s journey. This adventure through magical lands is for you!
