On Aphrodite Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty, sexuality, and fertility. Her origins are in ancient Greece. It is said that the cult of Aphrodite derived from goddesses like Astarte (Phoenician), Ishtar (Mesopotamia), and Inanna (Sumerian). Today, Aphrodite is the ultimate symbol of self-love and female empowerment. The Artwork The Tarot of Aphrodite features a selection of art from the Renaissance and later epochs. I focused to select images that represent the divine feminine and Venus. I chose a pale pink with gold for the layout. Images used in this card deck are subject to the Wikimedia Commons license/ Public Domain. They can be used commercially by the creator of this Tarot deck due to alterations and due to the fact that the death of the artists whose works were used in this deck is already over 70 years ago therefore the exclusive rights have expired. All Artist's names and the name of the paintings are featured in a booklet that comes with this Tarot. Normal Tarot vs Tarot of Aphrodite The Tarot of Aphrodite has several cards that have been renamed but the meaning is the same. For example: The Fool is renamed "The Birth" The High priestess is renamed "The Seer" The Empress is renamed "Aphrodite" (The Empress also represents Venus in normal Tarot) The Emperor is renamed "Ares" (The Emperor also represents the sign Aries, the warrior who had a loving affair with Aphrodite) The Wheel of fortune is renamed "The Fates" The Hanged Man is renamed "Stillness" Page is renamed Princess, Knights are renamed Priestess. Pentacles are renamed coins. It was very important to me that the integrity of the original Tarot was respected while putting my own spin on it. You will find that most of the cards correspond really well to the traditional Tarot. The minor Arcana cards all have little symbols on the top to highlight if it's a sword, coin, cup, or wand card.
